“West Coast Jazz" is the music of Los Angeles and San Francisco that began in the 1950’s. It was widely condemned by the eastern jazz critics mainly because it was not based in New York. The music followed the east coast trends but sounded lighter and is more experimental. Enjoy 'Wistful Samba' ft. Bud Shank and Dr Clare Fischer on the piano. Frankly Jazz was a half-hour television program produced in Los Angeles in the early 1960s. Each program featured one or more prominent West Coast Jazz performer of the day, hosted by Frank Evans, a leading jazz DJ.
Monday night jazz series hosted by Mitch Glickman on KJazz FM -- "Beyond Symphonic Jazz" explores the blend between jazz and classical music. The 2-hour show features in-depth interviews with performers and composers active in the jazz/classical world like Wayne Shorter, Pat Metheny, Béla Fleck, Vince Mendoza, Don Sebesky, Leonard Slatkin, Paquito D'Rivera and on August 8, 2022 with Brent Fischer.

Blue Note Entertainment Group announces the lineup for the second Blue Note Jazz Festival Napa, curated by five-time Grammy Award winner Robert Glasper and hosted by internationally acclaimed and award-winning comedian Dave Chappelle. The small town festival, held at Silverado Resort, Napa, CA, boasts an impressive line-up of cultural icons to celebrate jazz's influence during the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. Artists inspired by the integrity and spirit of jazz, include headliners Mary J. Blige, Nas, and Chance the Rapper.
